Application of "natural" refrigerants: a rational solution to a pressing problem.

Author(s) : LORENTZEN G.

Summary

Using refrigerants already present in the biosphere and which people are already familiar with helps protect the environment. Ammonia has been used for generations and is perfectly suitable for most large- and medium-capacity installations. Propane has advantages for a few special applications. Carbon dioxide is an almost ideal chemical compound when it is used in new systems that have been designed with energy efficiency in mind.
