Carbon dioxide as a refrigerant for car air conditioning systems.
Kohlendioxid als Kältemittel für Pkw-Klimaanlagen.
Author(s) : GENTNER H., FOELDI A.
Type of article: Article
Summary
In the framework of the European project "RACE", car air conditioning systems with CO2 as refrigerant have been developed and tested intensively. The results of this project and tests done at the Munich Technical University are described in the article, with focus on the laboratory's capacity data and wind tunnel tests. Results are compared with a reference R134a system. The main criteria considered are environmental behaviour, safety and economy of operation. The authors consider that CO2 has a real chance of replacing R134a systems in the future.
