CFC-replacement by natural working fluids. Research and development and industrial challenges within the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump areas.
Author(s) : FRIVIK P. E.
Summary
To show the possibilities of some natural working fluids, examples from three different areas are described: the development of a compact ammonia unit with condenser output of 20 kilowatts; a new, patented CO2 system whose main application is automotive air conditioning; and the development of prototype and demonstation heat-pump plants with natural fluids. These examples show that natural working fluids can be a realistic alternative for CFC replacement.
