Summary

AGRICULTURE AND THE FOOD INDUSTRY IN YUGOSLAVIA AFTER WORLD WAR II HAD A DEVELOPMENT MARKEDLY SLOW COMPARED TO THE GENERAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY. THE BUILDING OF INDUSTRIAL SLAUGHTERHOUSES WAS NOT ALWAYS ADJUSTED TO THE BREEDING OF STOCK. SOME ERRORS WERE MADE IN LOCATIONS, CAPACITIES, EQUIPMENT AND PROGRAMS. THE CAPACITIES OF SLAUGHTERING AND OF THE PRIMARY TREATMENT OF MEAT ARE OFTEN TOO HIGH COMPARED TO INSUFFICIENT CAPACITIES FOR COOLING, SECONDARY TREATMENT AND PROCESSING OF MEAT.
