DESCRIPTION OF THE < GRENCO > PROCESS, WITH THE FOLLOWING THREE STAGES: 1. CRYSTALLISATION IN ORDER TO OBTAIN 25 MICROMETER ICE CRYSTALS, MADE UP WITHIN A FEW SECONDS IN A SCRAPED HEAT EXCHANGER ; 2. RECRYSTALLISATION IN ORDER TO OBTAIN BIG CRYSTALS (UP TO SEVERALL MILLIMETERS) IN A TANK, AT THE BOTTOM OF WHICH A FILTER MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO RECIRCULATE A SOLUTION FREE OF CRYSTALS TO THE EXCHANGER ; 3. CONCENTRATE-ICE SEPARATION IN A COLUMN WHERE THE CRYSTALS ARE WASHED ; WITH A FILTERING PISTON THE ICE IS ISOLATED AT THE TOP OF THE COLUMN, WHEREAS THE CONCENTRATE IS COLLECTED AT THE BOTTOM. THE WASHING WATER (IN COUNTERFLOW) COMES FROM EXTRACTED ICE CRYSTALS. G.G.
