Cryosim: a user-friendly program for simulating cryopreservation protocols.
Author(s) : WALCERZ D. B.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Cryosim assumes an isothermal system with well-mixed, ideal solutions that follow equilibrium phase diagrams. The only permeable species are water and cryoprotectant additive, and passive diffusion is the only transport process. The program is best suited for simulating cryopreservation of single cells or microscopic tissues such as embryos and pancreas islets at slow or moderate cooling and warming rates.
