Economic optimisation of absorption chillers.
Author(s) : CERKVENIK B., BERLITZ T., ZIEGLER F., et al.
Summary
In most cases high COP (which means low running cost) requires high investment cost (which means large heat exchanger area), and this effort will only pay off for relatively large lifelong running time. So an optimization between these two aspects is necessary. The aim of the paper is to find the economical optimum for thermally driven single- and double-effect absorption chillers with respect to the thermodynamic aspects. In other words the optimal machine with the least total cost for the given external conditions will be found. In addition to earlier publication on the topic, the economic terms are discussed in more detail.
