EFFECTS OF SOME GROWTH REGULATORS ON THE SHELF LIFE OF < AMAR > APRICOT FRUIT STORED AT 273 K (0 DEG C).

Author(s) : NABAWY S. M. el-

Summary

THE AUTHORS STUDIED THE EFFECT OF THE POSTHARVEST APPLICATION OF GA3 AND MH (MALEIC HYDRAZIDE) ON THE QUALITY OF AMAR APRICOTS AT 273 K. THEY STUDIED THE ADVANTAGE OF POLYETHYLENE AND PAPER BAGS. LOSSES DUE TO SHRINKAGE DECREASED FOR FRUIT TREATED WITH GA3 OR MH. THE APPLICATION OF MH AT 5,000 PPM WAS MORE EFFECTIVE. THE FRUIT TREATED WITH GA3 OR MH HAD A LOWER RIPENESS VALUE. POLYETHYLENE BAGS INCREASED INJURIES, RIPENESS VALUE AND MINIMISED MASS LOSS. THERE WAS LESS SHRINKAGE FOR FRUIT IN POLYETHYLENE THAN IN PAPER BAGS.
