Summary

The effect of storage temperature on the quality of muskmelon fruits was investigated. Fruits stored at 5 deg C remained firm and had a longer storage life (longer than 20 days) than those stored at 25 deg C (6-8 days). Fruit soluble solids, glucose and fructose contents peaked following 10 days in storage, then decreased. Total sugar content generally showed a similar trend. A good correlation was observed between firmness and commodity value.
