Summary

THE EXERGETIC METHOD OF ANALYSIS IS A USEFUL TOOL IN EXPLAINING THE VARIOUS ENERGY FLOWS IN A PROCESS, AND IN THE FINAL RUN HELPS TO REDUCE LOSSES OCCURRING IN THE SYSTEM. THE PAPER EXPLAINS THE METHOD OF CARRYING OUT AN EXERGETIC ANALYSIS ON A VAPOUR COMPRESSION REFRIGERATION SYSTEM USING R11 AND R12 AS REFRIGERANTS. EXERGY-ENTHALPY DIAGRAMS ARE PRESENTED. THE PROCEDURE TO CALCULATE THE VARIOUS LOSSES OCCURRING IN THE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS, AS WELL AS THE COP AND THE EXERGETIC EFFICIENCY OF THE REFRIGERATION CYCLE, HAS BEEN EXPLAINED BY MEANS OF A NUMERICAL EXAMPLE.
