Summary

For the low refrigeration temperature ranges, especially different working fluids in the mixed-refrigerant Joule-Thomson cryocooler, the refrigerant flowing characteristics in the capillary tube expansion device are different from those of household refrigerators. In order to study the capillary tube flowing process with mixed-refrigerant in cryocoolers, a setup based on the refrigeration cycle is established. In the paper, the 120 K temperature range experimental setting is introduced, and a separated flow model is developed to simulate the thermal and fluid-dynamic behaviour of the capillary tube. Comparisons of the predicted results and the experimental results are presented.
