Fluides naturels ou HFC : quelles options pour les PAC à haute température ?

Author(s) : LARMINAT P. de, ARNOU D.

Type of article: Article, Review

Summary

Increasing needs for energy savings and mitigation of greenhouse gases are generating rising increased interest in heat pumps, including temperature ranges that have been little used or not used at all, between 70 and 140°C. Beyond the practical limits for use of R134a, other HFC refrigerants such as R236fa or 145fa can be used. Natural refrigerants such as ammonia and isobutane and even water vapour for the upper temperature rangecan also be technically valuable in certain applications. The article reviews various possible options, taking into account the thermodynamic and environmental properties of the refrigerants, as well as the technological evolution of equipment required in order to implement these options.
