Summary

Superconducting YBCO thin films on zirconia substrates with zero resistance temperature of 92 K, critical current density of about the order of 100,000 A/cm2 at 77 K and crystal structure of preferential c-axis orientation perpendicular to its surface have been successfully prepared in situ using pulsed laser (308 nm, 28 ns) ablation of a superconducting YBCO disk without plasma assistance at a substrate temperature below 600 deg C. The influences of preparation conditions, such as laser parameters, oxygen ambient, substrate temperature, and deposition time, on the superconductivity of the in situ grown thin films are discussed.
