Summary

THE INFLUENCE OF ETHYLENE REMOVAL BY A CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON GOLDEN DELICIOUS APPLES STORED IN CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE WAS STUDIED. DEPURATION WAS CONTINUALLY APPLIED DURING THE LAST TWO MONTHS OF COLD STORAGE. OVER THIS PERIOD THE FOLLOWING WERE ANALYZED: THE STORAGE-ROOM ATMOSPHERE FOR ETHYLENE CONTENT, AND THE FRUIT FOR INTERNAL ETHYLENE CONTENT AND FOR VOLATILE SUBSTANCES WHICH DEVELOPED DURING THE AFTER-STORAGE RIPENING PROCESS AND WHICH WERE CONTAINED IN THE FLESH OF BOTH RIPENED FRUIT AND FRUIT AT THE END OF STORAGE. ETHYLENE REMOVAL SHOWED A REGULATOR EFFECT ON THE PRODUCTION OF ETHYLENE AND VOLATILE SUBSTANCES.
