Summary
The paper looks at the requirements of a refrigeration lubricant. Some background of the synthetic lubricant manufacturing process is discussed and possible future avenues of development proposed. Currently the retrofitting of existing CFC and HCFC equipment is an area of extreme importance. A number of interesting experiences are discussed.
