Low GWP HFO solutions for HVAC&R and foam applications.

Summary

More and more countries continue to ratify the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol in an effort to limit the usage of potent greenhouse gases that are widely being used across the globe. The authors are focused on developing low-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants and foam blowing agent solutions to provide high-performance, competitive and sustainable choices for the industry. In this discussion, two products that will shape the evolution of a variety of industries will be presented: R-516A, an azeotropic HFO/HFC blend, and its use in refrigeration, heat pump and chiller applications; and HFO-1233zd(E) and its application as a refrigerant in chillers as well as a blowing agent for numerous foam applications such as spray foam, appliance and panel insulation.
