MEASUREMENT OF GAS-TIGHTNESS WITH AN AUTOMATIC PRESSURE-DECAY TIMER.

Author(s) : SHARP A. K.

Summary

THE MOST COMMON MEASURE OF THE GAS-TIGHTNESS OF CONTAINERS AND VEHICLE BODIES IS THE STEADY-STATE AIR FLOW RATE REQUIRED TO PRODUCE A SPECIFIED OVER-PRESSURE. THE TRANSIENT TEST IS QUICKER FOR COOLSTORES AND IS MORE EASILY PERFORMED. THE THEORETICAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THESE TWO TYPES OF TEST IS DEVELOPED IN THIS PAPER AND IS SHOWN TO COMPARE WELL WITH AN EXPERIMENTAL CORRELATION OBTAINED FOR INTEGRAL REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS. AN AUTOMATIC TIMING DEVICE, , IS DESCRIBED FOR THE PRESSURE-DECAY TES.
