Summary

This article is the Italian translation of an article presented at the IIR-Gustav Lorentzen Conference in Trondheim, Norway (see the Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2007-1633). CO2 begins to be significantly used in low temperature display cases either as a secondary refrigerant or in direct expansion systems. The paper presents the design of a CO2 system installed in a hypermarket, cooling horizontal display cases and multiple-air curtain vertical display cases. The energy performances are analyzed, as well as the air temperatures and the temperatures of the products. Two different concepts of display cases are studied in order to verify temperature control of the products and global energy performances including electrical consumptions of all installed auxiliaries: anti-sweat heaters, fans, and lighting. Conclusions are drawn in terms of environmental impact due to refrigerant emissions, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions related to energy consumption.
