THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE PRESENT SITUATION WITH THE PROSPECTS OF THE SEARCH FOR NEW REFRIGERANTS LAID DOWN BY THE SECOND STAGE OF REGULATIONS ON FULLY HALOGENATED CHLOROFLUOROCARBONS (CFC). HE STUDIES CRITERIA FOR THE SELECTION OF THESE REFRIGERANTS AND DETAILS THE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF THE REFRIGERANTS SELECTED, MAINLY R124A AND R134A. HE PRESENTS A PREDICTABLE SCHEDULE (7 TO 10 YEARS) FOR THE COMPLETE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRODUCTION OF REFRIGERANTS AND THE ADAPTATION OF CORRESPONDING PLANT COMPONENTS. J.R.
