Numerical study on the in-tube laminar heat transfer characteristics of CO2 cooled at supercritical pressure.

Author(s) : KOYAMA S., KIM D., SHINMURA E.

Summary

Forced convective heat transfer characteristics of carbon dioxide cooled at supercritical pressure were investigated numerically. A circular smooth tube cooled at constant wall heat flux was selected as a test specimen and the flow regime was restricted to laminar. The radial distributions of axial velocity and temperature vary continuously in the axial direction due to the change of physical properties. Correlations between heat transfer coefficient, pseudo critical temperature, Nusselt number, bulk temperature, pressure and pressure drop, are investigated.
