Summary

Ethylene content and evolution were determined in melon fruits harvested 40, 45 or 50 days after anthesis and stored at normal or cold temperatures. Ethylene concentration in fruits and ethylene evolution increased with fruit maturity. Changes in ethylene evolution and correlations with maturity, storage life and rotting are studied.
