Performance evaluation of environmentally benign refrigerants in heat pumps. 1. A simulation study.

Author(s) : BANSAL P. K., DUTTO T., HIVET B.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

The refrigerants studied include R12, R22, R134a, R142b, R152a, a ternary blend of R22 (40%), R124 (43%) and R152a (17%), and ammonia. The calculations are made for all the refrigerants for the same operating conditions. For high-temperature applications, a compression-absorption heat-pump cycle (with ammonia-water as the working fluid) is described. Its performance characteristics are discussed and compared with vapour-compression cycles with R142b as the working fluid by using the concept of "thermodynamic temperature".
