POOL BOILING HEAT TRANSFER FROM SINGLE TUBES TO NEW REFRIGERANTS.

Summary

TWO OF THE POSSIBLE SUBSTITUTES ARE R134A AND R227. IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE THEIR HEAT TRANSFER PERFORMANCE IN EVAPORATORS, MEASUREMENTS WITH POOL BOILING FROM SINGLE PLAIN AND FINNED COPPER TUBES WERE CARRIED OUT IN A WIDE RANGE OF SATURATION PRESSURES. THE HEAT FLUX VARIED FROM FREE CONVECTION WITHOUT BUBBLE FORMATION UP TO A VERY INTENSE NUCLEATE BOILING. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS FOR R134A ARE EQUAL TO OR BETTER THAN THOSE OF R22, AND THE SAME HOLDS FOR R227 IN COMPARISON WITH R114, IF ALL THE OTHER IMPORTANT PARAMETERS ARE THE SAME.
