Practical experience with ammonia add-on heat pumps.

Number: pap. n. 211

Author(s) : GERRITSEN J.

Summary

Add-on heat pump systems can be used for heating up to 90°C, thereby significantly reducing CO2 emissions and energy costs. GEA Refrigeration has installed a number of these heat pumps to support this. An important lesson learned is how to avoid liquid refrigerant entering the compressor due to condensation during standstill and startup. This paper describes measures to avoid this problem.
