Summary

Report of a WHO Consultation, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 28 April to 1 May 1997. Its objectives were to exchange information on current approaches to the prevention and control of infections and outbreaks caused by E. coli O157:H7 and other EHEC, in addition to developing recommendations for surveillance, outbreak investigation, control and prevention, and research needs. Country profiles (Argentina, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden, United Kingdom, USA) are intended to give an overview of current national situations with respect to EHEC infections.
