Summary

THE PRODUCTION AND EQUIPMENT OF USSR WORKS , EQUIPPED WITH MECHANICAL LINES AND AUTOMATS WITH A CAPACITY OF 20,000 MEALS PER SHIFT IS DESCRIBED. THE PACKAGE USED ENABLES DIRECT HEATING OF MEALS. ANOTHER FROZEN MEAL PRODUCTION LINE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED IN GAGRA (GEORGIA). RESULTS OF FOUR MONTHS' STORAGE OF FROZEN MEALS AT 255 AND 243 K (-18 AND -30 DEG C) ARE GIVEN, SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS GIVING BETTER RESULTS THAN FINISHED FRIED MEALS. A TABLE OF EFFECTS OF THE STORAGE TIME AND TEMPERATURE ON MEAL QUALITY IS GIVEN.
