R32: A LIKELY REFRIGERANT SUBSTITUTE.
Type of article: Article
Summary
METHYLENE FLUORIDE, R32, HAS BEEN DISCUSSED AS A FUTURE REFRIGERANT AT A CONFERENCE SPONSORED BY THE EPAGLOBAL CHANGE DIVISION. IT HAS LOW IMPACT ON BOTH OZONE DEPLETION AND GLOBAL WARMING, AND MIGHT REPLACE R22 IN LOW TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS, PARTICULARLY IN AZEOTROPES SUCH AS WITH R125 WHICH HELPS TO OFFSET THE FLAMMABLE PROPERTIES. MORE RESEARCH IS REQUIRED. D.W.H.
