Reduction of brown heart in Conférence pears.
Author(s) : ROELOFS F. P. M. M., JAGER A. de
Summary
Results indicate that by picking in time, immediate cooling following harvest, a delay of at least 20 days before establishing CA conditions, and a low CO2 concentration in CA, the risk of brownheart in storage can be minimized. Further research, in collaboration with other groups, concentrates on the possibility to predict the risk of brown heart and on the underlying mechanism of the brown-heart disorder.
