Refrigerant Containment Study.

Étude sur le confinement des fluides frigorigènes.

Author(s) : DEVIN E., MICHINEAU T., MOULINS F., et al.

Type of monograph: Report

Summary

Refrigerants are essential to the operation of refrigerating and air-conditioning plants. Leakage of refrigerants, especially hydrofluorocarbons, has a direct and major impact on global warming due to their high global warming potential but also an indirect impact as the energy efficiency of the facilities is affected when the refrigerant load is less than the nominal load. Cemafroid and IRSTEA, at the request of AFCE (Alliance Froid Climatisation Environnement http://www.afce.asso.fr/) conducted a study from September 2014 to May 2015 on the containment of refrigerating plants.
This study has 3 main objectives: a review on existing litterature, determine causes and sources of leakages rather than specific leakage rate of each sector or application, and make recommandations to the main actors.
