IIR document
Selection of R502 and R22 alternatives for different applications.
Author(s) : HESSE U., SPAUSCHUS H. O.
Summary
Cycle calculations based on equations of state help to find the most promising alternative for different R22 and R502 applications. But more than this system change may also lead to better solutions. The main step in commercial refrigeration can be switching to secondary refrigerant systems to avoid the use of large amounts of refrigerants. The advantages of zeotrope mixtures for air cooled unitary systems are limited if they are used only in standard cycles. New modified cycles offer additional options.
