Single-phase secondary refrigerants: selection criteria.
Fluides frigoporteurs monophasiques : critères de sélection.
Author(s) : MALEK A.
Summary
Application of a secondary refrigerant means that a secondary circuit and intermediate exchanger are required; this can reduce the energy efficiency of the plant. In order to minimize loss of energy efficiency in such systems, the best secondary refrigerant must be selected. Selection criteria are: sector of application (taking into account toxicity and flammability requirements); "sizing" and selection of components; thermal and thermophysical properties of refrigerants; compatibility of materials, etc., maintenance (lifespan of additives and corrosion inhibitors), solution renewal requirements.
