Summary

US owners of CFC using water-chillers are slow to convert to CFC substitutes. Of about 80,000 chillers in use, only about 13,000 are likely to have been converted or replaced by the end of 1995. The ARI are taking steps to make equipment owners aware of this fast deteriorating situation, while manufacturers are warning that they will be unable to meet a large last minute demand. It has been suggested that CFC stocks may last longer if their use in automobile air-conditioning is forbidden by law. D.W.H.
