Summary

Carbon dioxide (R744) solubility testing was performed using a supercritical extraction apparatus. Data indicate that the lubricant type affects R744 solubility. Characteristics of several lubricants and their R744 mixtures are introduced. Then oils for ammonia (R717) and hydrocarbon (R600a) are introduced as well, along with their characteristics. Furthermore, miscibility tests were performed to determine a miscible oil for R32. Some particular esters indicated R32 miscibility, though POE for R410A was not miscible.
