Some phenomena in an intercooler at reduced pressure over the liquid ammonia.
Author(s) : ZHIVITSA V. I.
Summary
The main reason of breakdowns in ammonia compressors is slugging. In two-stage ammonia refrigeration plants with an intercooler of closed or open type, the wet compression and slugging phenomena most probably appear on the higher stage compressor. The aim of the study was to find out a correlation between the pressure decrease and resulting level increase, taking into consideration possible foaming, swelling and self-evaporation phenomena.
