Summary
Cans of several sizes and fillings were examined referring to changes following the freezing process. In all cases, swelling was detected. It could be traced back to the water content of the filling. Damage of some containers was associated with fillings of pure water but not with conventional meat products. Variable degrees of swelling of cans could also be found depending on the size, material and shape, of the container.
