Summary

The main positive aspect of the hygiene package regulations is that they clarify the responsibilities and respective roles of operators and control services. Within this new framework, regulations 882/2004 and 854/2004 define the compulsory steps in terms of control phases. In order to comply with these regulations, animal health authorities in France opted for an accreditation system based on the ISO17020 reference and the use of national methods and tools.
