Summary
Soft fruit and chilling injury are the 2 most important quality factors influencing marketability. Storage and transport data for cv. Fuerte in the 1991-93 seasons were analysed and the findings are discussed briefly, with one table. As the time between packing and freight arrival increased from 22 to 27 days so the risk of fruit softening increased considerably. Chilling injury varied in incidence between seasons and the relationship of injury to pulp temperature was unclear.
