THE SUPERCOOLING OF WATER DROPLETS.

[In Japanese. / En japonais.]

Author(s) : SHIMOMURA R.

Type of article: Article

Summary

MEASUREMENTS WERE MADE OF THE FREEZING POINT OF WATER DROPLETS, RANGING FROM 1.2 MM TO 4.0 MM IN DIAMETER, SUSPENDED AT THE INTERFACE OF TWO INSOLUBLE LIQUIDS AND COOLED AT RATES OF 0.13-0.75 K/MIN. THE RELATION BETWEEN SUPERCOOLING, THE COOLING RATE AND THE DIAMETER OF DROPLETS WAS ARRANGED EXPERIMENTALLY BY USING PROBABILITY OF FREEZING. ADDITIONALLY, THE RELATION WAS GENERALLY EXTENDED BY 3 KINDS OF DIMENSIONLESS PARAMETERS OBTAINED BY DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS.
