DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF TRIALS WITH AIR PERMEABLE DUCTING TO REDUCE MICROBIOLOGICAL CONTAMINATION. DUCTING MADE OF POLYPROPYLENE WITH A PERMEABILITY OF 320 M3/M2 AT 120 PASCALS STATIC PRESSURE TO A TEST ROOM OF 100 M3 VOLUME. IN A TRIAL WITH NO PRE FILTER, THE PENICILLIUM SPORE COUNT WAS REDUCED FROM 6,000/M3 TO 300/M3 IN 30 MINUTES. A SECOND TRIAL WITH A PRE FILTER REDUCED THE COUNT FROM 12,500/M3 TO 200/M3 IN 30 MINUTES. OTHER BENEFITS SUCH AS REDUCED WEIGHT LOSS, REDUCED REFRIGERATION COSTS AND PERSONNEL COMFORT ARE ALSO CONSIDERED. G.R.S.
