Summary
The production of tube ice is more economical than other kinds (block ice, plate ice, scale ice). The desired evaporation temperature of the refrigerant is -10 deg C. The main use is for fish icing on vessels and in rail cars. Special production plants have been developed with a full mechanization of reloading works. The factories may have various configurations in order to adjust to the space available. In order to ice rail cars, tower plants are used with a silo for storing the ice. In accordance with European standards, one icing of a railway truck is enough for 35 hours of transport.
