Use of sea water as condenser coolant on a large coolstore refrigeration system.

Author(s) : ODEY M. A.

Summary

The paper describes the use of sea water as a condenser coolant in a cold store with the options accepted and the problems raised by this choice. This plant uses ammonia as refrigerant; the store was used to store apples at 0 deg C, but could also operate at -30 deg C. For such plants, regulations about sewage discharge make this a difficult solution.
