Accelerated screening methods for determining chemical and thermal stability of refrigerant-lubricant mixtures. 2. Experimental comparison and verification of methods.

Type of monograph: Report

Summary

The report summarizes an investigation of analytical techniques for development of an accelerated method of compatibility testing. The resulting method was designed to be safe and to produce chemical and thermal stability rankings that are consistent with those from conventional thermal-aging tests, independent of refrigerant-lubricant compositions, and suited for a wide variety of materials. Data from sealed-tube tests, performed in accordance with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 97-1989, for R12, R22, R134a, and R32/R134a (30/70) with lubricants and valve-steel catalysts are presented. Volume II provides in situ conductivity data from an investigation of analytical techniques to develop an accelerated method of compatibility testing.
