DANISH SUMMER CATCHES OF SPRAT, SAND EEL, AND NORWAY POUT ARE AT SURFACE WATER TEMPERATURE OF 288 K (15 DEG C) AND BEGIN TO DECOMPOSE IN 2 DAYS. WHEN KEPT IN ICE AT NEAR 273 K (0 DEG C) THEY CAN BE KEPT FOR 8 TO 9 DAYS AND USED FOR CANNING. 2. THE CATCH IS EITHER BRAILED OR PUMPED ABOARD INTO TANKS CONTAINING REFRIGERATED SEAWATER, APPROXIMATELY 70 PERCENT FISH 30 PERCENT WATER AT 273 K AT FIRST THEN REDUCED TO 272 K (-1 DEG C) APPROXIMATELY IN 6 TO 8 HOURS.
