Cold storage of different melon cultivars: effects on quality, rots, and chilling injuries.

Summary

Storage trials were conducted for two consecutive years on melons (Cocumis melo var. reticulatus) cvv. Soleado and Pacio. Findings showed that cv. Soleado may be stored at 5 deg C for 10 days with little loss of fruits and cv. Pacio for 5 days at the same temperature. Sucrose ester treatments permit to reduce to some extent the percentage of overripe fruits.
