Summary

The physical aspects of the distribution of temperature in refrigerated display shelves are discussed, particularly the effects of mutual infrared irradiation among container, ambient and food on the stability and safety of frozen and refrigerated foods during retail marketing. The effects of the frequency of door opening during frozen food shopping are discussed. The problems arising from the application of the Montreal Protocol to cold chain equipment are discussed from the technical and practical points of view. The long-term problems concerning the greenhouse effect are discussed, along with possible solutions. The IIR's contribution in solving the problems arising from the enforcement of the Montreal Protocol is emphasized. A.P.
