Summary
Alginate-coated shoot-tips of chicory cv. Flash were cryopreserved using direct freezing in liquid nitrogen. A two-step preculture was used. After dehydration and cryopreservation, a survival rate of 65.0% (more or less 7.0%) was obtained. This method seems to be promising for cryopreserving chicory shoot-tips.
