Summary

The paper provides a case history examination of the experience of retrofitting a group of 17 vehicles with factory-installed air conditioning from R12 to R134a. Vehicles used in this test represented a cross section of model years (1985 to 1993), system types (thermal expansion valves or orifice tube), domestic and foreign makers (American, Japanese and European), compressor types (piston, scroll, rotary), etc.
