Summary

Some mixtures of interest have been proposed, particularly water-hydroxides or nitrates, methanol-salts, as far as conventional absorption systems are concerned. For three-fluid machines, new water-ammonia-inert gas mixtures have been considered. The sector where the best results are expected is that of mixtures of halogenated refrigerant and organic absorbent, since many new refrigerants (HCFCs, HFCs) are under study now with a view to replacing CFCs in compression machines.
