Global refrigerant trends.

Number: pap. ID25

Author(s) : FUNDER-KRISTENSEN T., VONSILD A. L.

Summary

The authors will describe the global trends for refrigerants, with a special focus on where natural and low-GWP refrigerants are expected to gain market share moving forward. Based on an update of the seven forces model proposed at the last GL conference and observations of developments in standards and legislation, it is now possible to discuss the future opportunities and implications of usage. The momentum of refrigerants technologies and the legal certainties are increasing in many regions, making the trends across the regions easier to forecast. The complexity of refrigerants in diverse applications, regulations, standards, energy efficiency demands, and training needs are increasing, and the HVACR industry needs to be prepared to meet these changes. The scenarios in different regions are discussed in the context of the seven forces model.
