Summary

These proceedings contain 54 papers and 46 posters from the 13th international conference and exhibition on liquefied natural gas, held in Seoul, Korea, co-sponsored by the IIR, the International Gas Union and the GTI. Demand of LNG has rapidly increased since it was first introduced in Korea, because it is clean, safe and convenient and because of the expansion of the national LNG trunk line. In 2000, Korea imported 14,578,000 tons of LNG from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and Qatar, making it the second largest importer of LNG after Japan. LNG demand which represents 9% of domestic primary energy consumption, is expected to grow by 4.7% annually to reach 20,971,000 tons in 2010.
